The wait for Buc-ee's in Rutherford County has an end date.

The Texas-based travel center chain will open its Murfreesboro store at 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, the company announced in a press release Monday.

Where and when

The store is at 3355 Elam Road, by the Interstate 24 interchange at Joe B. Jackson Parkway on the south side of Murfreesboro.

Doors open at 6 a.m. A ribbon-cutting follows at noon, and the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce lists it from noon to 1 p.m. Buc-ee's said Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland, Rutherford County Mayor Randy Allen and members of the City Council and County Commission will attend.

Customers may begin lining up at midnight, a company spokesperson told Murfreesboro.com. Buc-ee's openings often draw big early crowds.

What's inside

The store will cover 74,000 square feet and have 120 fueling positions, according to the company. It will carry the chain's usual menu, including Texas barbecue, fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries. Anyone who can't wait until opening day can find Beaver Nuggets from online sellers.

"Murfreesboro has been a great partner to work with since we first visited," Stan Beard of Buc-ee's said in the release. "This community will be a welcome pit stop for folks traveling to and from Nashville, Atlanta and the Gulf Coast."

Buc-ee's said the Murfreesboro store will be its 58th in the U.S. The chain already has Tennessee stores in Crossville and Sevierville.

Jobs

Buc-ee's said the store will create more than 250 jobs. The company promised starting pay "well above minimum wage," full benefits, a 6% 401(k) match and three weeks of paid vacation. It did not list hourly rates.

Traffic on opening day

The city of Murfreesboro put three new traffic signals into full operation on Joe B. Jackson Parkway in February as part of the Buc-ee's project: at the I-24 westbound ramps, the I-24 eastbound ramps and the Elam Road and Butler Drive intersection. City staff said they would adjust signal timing as needed to limit delays.

Drivers who use the Joe B. Jackson Parkway exit should plan for extra time on the morning of Nov. 16. For more on the corridor, see our story on I-24 Choice Lanes public meetings in Nashville and Smyrna, plus more Rutherford County news and Nashville-area traffic news.
