Tuesday night at Bridgestone Arena brings a new face, an old favorite and a tough opponent for the Nashville Predators.

The Predators host the Carolina Hurricanes at 7 p.m. to close a five-game homestand, their longest of the season. Carolina, the defending Stanley Cup champion, arrives at 12-2-2 with four straight wins. Nashville is 5-4-5 with 15 points.

Shane Wright's first game

Center Shane Wright is set to make his Predators debut. Nashville acquired the 22-year-old from the Seattle Kraken on Sunday in exchange for forward Matthew Wood, the team announced.

Seattle took Wright fourth overall in the 2022 NHL Draft. He had three goals and an assist in 14 games with the Kraken this season. His best year came in 2024-25, when he scored 19 goals and 44 points.

Wright practiced Monday alongside Filip Forsberg and Nils Hoglander. "Super excited, really looking forward to being here and being part of this group," he said.

Head coach Andrew Brunette said he hopes Wright can be a top-six forward who brings pace through the middle of the ice. Brunette said forward Jonathan Marchessault is a game-time decision, and goalie Juuse Saros is expected to start.

A sendoff for Pekka Rinne

Former Predators goalie Pekka Rinne is in town, and the team will send him off during the game ahead of his Hockey Hall of Fame induction Monday, Nov. 9, in Toronto. Tuesday is also Rinne's birthday, according to the team.

Rinne is the first player who spent his entire career in Nashville to be enshrined. He joins former captain Shea Weber and former general manager David Poile in the Hall.

Hockey Fights Cancer Night

The game doubles as the team's first Hockey Fights Cancer Night of the season. Proceeds benefit the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, which Rinne and Weber started in 2013-14. The fund has raised more than $4 million, according to the team.

Fans are asked to wear lavender. Six patient ambassadors from Monroe Carell will take part in the night, including a ceremonial puck drop with Rinne. Vanderbilt student volunteers outside section 117 will help fans join the Gift of Life bone marrow registry.

How to watch

The game airs locally on The Spot - Nashville 28 (WNPX) and streams on the Nashville Predators app. Radio coverage is on 102.5 The Game.

What's next

Forsberg leads Nashville with 17 points, and Steven Stamkos has eight goals. The Predators' power play ranks fifth in the NHL and the penalty kill ranks fourth.
